Protest! Biden and Merkley, 11:30am on Wednesday, October 8th.
SENATOR MERKLEY: WE CALL ON YOU TO END YOUR UNCONDITIONAL SUPPORT FOR THE STATE OF ISRAEL.
Vice President Joe Biden is coming to Portland in support of Jeff Merkley.
It is at the Oregon Convention Center at 777 NE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Portland, OR 97232
We will be there to protest and hand flyers out about Merkley's terrible positions on Gaza and Palestinian rights.
We will start at 11:30am in order to get to folks going into the "power" lunch. The actual rally with Biden begins at 1pm.
If you are interested in going into the event, you need to RSVP here:

SENATOR MERKLEY
WE CALL ON YOU TO END YOUR UNCONDITIONAL SUPPORT FOR THE STATE OF ISRAEL.
Israel’s recent attacks in GAZA on civilians and civilian infrastructure have been judged as war crimes by both Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch. US-donated planes, helicopters and munitions were used in these attacks.
Israel’s Violations of Palestinian Human Rights and violations of International Law have gone on for decades. These include blockades, expulsions, killings, settlements in occupied territory, land seizures, home demolitions, and detention without due process, including the detention of children.
US military aid to Israel and diplomatic cover have allowed these gross violations of Human Rights and International law to continue for decades with impunity.
Israel violates US Law which declares that US military or non-military aid may not be given to any country that uses US-donated weapons against civilians or systematically violates basic human rights. These are provisions of both the Arms Export Control Act and the Foreign Assistance Act. But these violations of US law by Israel have never been investigated by Congress.
Senator Merkley voted at the start of the recent Gaza attacks for the one-sided Senate Resolution 498 which declares “Israel’s right to defend itself” but does not accord this right to the Palestinians and which condemns only the people of Gaza. Senator Merkley also recently signed a one-sided letter to the President seeking to prevent Palestinians from gaining redress and justice through international bodies such as the United Nations or the International Criminal Court.
SENATOR MERKLEY
We ask for your courage.
We ask you to hold Israel accountable
